Sociology refers to the study of human relationships. Sociology is basically the study of the society, the people around us.
The subject matter of Sociology is diverse and it ranges from crime to religion, from the family to the state, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture, and from social stability to radical change in whole societies. The subject helps us to gain the understanding of how the actions of human beings and their consciousness both shape and are shaped by surrounding cultural and social structures.
BA (Honors) in Sociology is offered in eight colleges at the University of Delhi:

Eligibility: A student from any stream, be it Science, Commerce or Humanities can pursue this course. In most of the colleges, admission is based on the percentage attained in class 12th board examination.
Course Content: The course stretches for a period of three years which are divided into six semesters.
The first two semesters provides an introduction to sociology and sociology of India. In the third and fourth semester, students are taught sociology kinship and religion, economic sociology and political sociology. In the final year, students learn sociological theories and methods of sociological research and social stratification.
Career Prospects: BA (Honors) in Sociology is an academic undergraduate course. Immediate job offers are difficult after graduation, but once you have completed your master's degree in the same field or the related field, jobs are easily available at both public and private sectors.
One can go for Masters in Sociology or can also study related subjects like social work or international relations. Many students also pursue MBA in HR or International relations.
